VACANCY – Occupational Therapist (Housing)

Location:         Dudley

Length:            Ongoing

Hours:             Part-time

Pay:                 Grade 10 SCP 32-35, negotiable dependent upon experience

 

Venn Group is currently recruiting for an experienced Physical or Mental Health Occupational Therapist to work in the housing division of the council. Applicants must have recent experience of working with both adults and children with complex needs in the community.

 

Responsibilities of the role:

  • To respond to requests for assessment in relation to adaptations, re-housing, housing management and repairs, affected by applicants/tenants complex health or disability needs

  • To make recommendations as to the level of medical priority for re-housing based on an assessment of need relating to the applicants current property and taking account of other housing options or services that may be appropriate

  • To make recommendations, based on assessed need for the provision of certain property types, adaptations and equipment, taking account of both health and housing policy and legislation

  • To assess potential of properties for adaptations and general accessibility, engaging surveyors or specialist company representatives where specific works are under consideration.

  • To ensure that any equipment supplied is fitted and demonstrated safely and clients are instructed on it’s safe use

  • To work in partnership with housing staff and outside agencies to explore housing solutions for individual applicants

  • To signpost customers effectively to other departments where relevant, supporting people with housing, health and disablity needs.

  • To provide support and advice to customers to maximise their housing choices with specific reference to their assessed need and accommodation that is advertised or might be available to them

 

  • Essential experience/requirements:

  • Degree holder in Occupational Therapy

  • Full UK drivers’ license and access to own vehicle

  • Enhanced DBS
