Temporary Refuge Support Worker

Venn Group Social Housing Recruitment Team are currently recruiting for an interim Refuge Support Worker for our Supported Housing client based in South Wales, to begin Temporary employment within their team

Location: South Wales
Contract Type: 2 – 6 weeks
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (shift work including early and late shifts but no nights)

Responsibilities:                                                                                 

  • Provide front line support to vulnerable female clients and victims of domestic abuse
  • Create and implement support plans and risk assessments
  • Assess needs of referrals/service users to determine what level of service is appropriate
  • Manage room preparation, breaches of license and report any maintenance issues
  • Support service users through the process of re-housing when required
  • Liaise and network with appropriate agencies, support women to settle in the community, provided information on amenities
  • Support service users to maintain license agreement and fully understand the penalties therein
  • Assist service users to apply and maintain benefits and manage other financial issues
  • Work with service users to access health services, legal services and housing
  • Facilitate group activities in addition to key working clients
  • Collect tenants rent and ensure it is receipted and accounted for in the manner prescribed
  • Liaise with Housing Benefit as required to ensure payments
  • Act as an advocate on behalf of service user
  • Represent the organisation at external meetings with 3rd party organisations


Essential Skills:

  • An enhanced DBS within the past 12 months
  • Domestic violence and housing experience
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • A driver with access to a car


Desirable Skills:

  • Child protection training
  • Experience of multi-agency working
