Senior Strategic Commissioning Manager
Based:  Central London
Length: 3 months with the possibility of extension
IR35 Status: Inside

One of our Local Authority clients is looking for a Senior Strategic Commissioning Manager to support the imbedding of the commissioning requirements of the local and national health, social care and education population.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Providing strong leadership and strategic management for commissioning across Children’s and Adults’ Services in accordance with the vision, values and aims of the Council and the department
  • Designing and commissioning a diverse and high quality range of social care services, with the aim to prevent, delay or reduce the requirements for statutory care and improve outcomes for the local population
  • Managing and engaging a range of partnership arrangements with public, private and voluntary sector/not for profit agencies and people who use services
  • Developing commissioning and procurement opportunities across the Council, the NHS and with neighbouring local authorities including in voluntary sector, supported living and personalisation agenda
  • Line managing a small commissioning team whilst reporting to the AD of Commissioning

Key Skills and experience:

  • Proven experience of managing, commissioning and planning services in children’s or adults’ social care and/or health care, or education context, including the reviewing and developing of practice both pro-actively and in response to change
  • Significant experience in delivering end-to-end commissioning projects across the whole of the commissioning cycle
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with providers and service users
  • Ability to write robust reports and tender specifications
