Senior Trading Standards Officer/Trading Standards Officer

Public Sector – Midlands

We are currently working with a Client based in the Midlands who are seeking the interim support of a fully qualified Trading Standards Officer for up to 6 months. This position is based within a high profile team, and a great deal of flexibility will be expected, including visiting premises outside of normal office hours.

The Commercial Regulation Service encompasses Environmental Health, Trading Standards, Private Sector Housing and Licensing Compliance Officers who work together in multi-disciplinary teams focused on improving environmental and commercial standards in the city.

Our client is developing a Covid-19 Compliance Task Force with a mix of EHO’s TSO’s and compliance staff working together to support and provide advice to local businesses with regard to COVID-19 compliance.  The aim is to ensure local business premises are Covid-19 compliant, prevent Covid-19 related scams and to ensure that Covid-19 related PPE meet the appropriate standards and are effective.

Essential requirements:

  • Be experienced at undertaking inspections of premises and securing compliance, the role will involve visits to premises to ensure they are Covid-19 safe
  • Have broad fair trading experience, able to investigate scams around Covid-19
  • Have a thorough understanding of product safety and in particular the duties of manufacturers and importers in relation to conformity assessment procedures and technical files
  • Have proven oral and written communication skills, be able to work on their own as well as being a team player and be capable of managing a heavy and varied workload

Duration: This role is for a minimum of 6 months
Rate: Negotiable depending on experience
