Support Manager – Learning Disabilities

A vacancy has arisen within a highly established charity based in the Oxford area. Our client is looking to recruit an experienced Support Manager to manage their Supported Living service, which focusses on supporting those with Learning Disabilities.

Job Title: Support Manager

Hours: 37.5 hours per week – applicants must be available to work on a shift basis with flexible hours, including as a part of the on-call rota

Salary: £30,090 per annum

Location: Oxford

Your duties include:

  • Effectively managing a team of staff and coaching team members to deliver an excellent standard of support as required by service users

  • To ensure that relevant company policies and procedures are understood and applied by staff in relation safeguarding, data protection, HR, health and safety and that the service meets CQC and Supporting People quality and compliance benchmarks

  • Organising a producing weekly rota’s so that they are effective, provide the appropriate support hours and minimises costs

  • Responsible for performance management and development of staff including coaching, regular 1 to 1s and performance reviews

  • Providing accurate and timely information and reports on the performance of services managed, ensuring the requirements of contracts are met

  • Overseeing budget management and expenditure authorisations to ensure costs remain within financial limits

  • Taking a lead in all aspects of staffing including recruitment, induction and training of employees

  • Ensuring all staff are up to date with mandatory training, service specific training and to arrange team meetings

  • Providing hands on support as and when needed, creating support plans and risk assessments and accurately updating records of staff and service users


Essential Requirements

  • Full and valid UK driving license and own vehicle

  • Experience managing a team of staff in a similar environment

  • Experience of working within a Learning Disabilities service

  • Knowledge of Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults and an understanding of CQC assessments and standards
