Young People Support Worker Vacancy

A charity in Suffolk are looking to secure a Young People’s Support Worker to work within their residential accommodation that accommodates vulnerable young adults.


Location: Suffolk

Hours: 35 hours per week including 2 waking night shifts

Duration: Permanent


Main responsibilities of the role:

  • Undertake support work for young people with specialist or high needs to become independent and advocate for the necessary skills for independent living

  • Enable young people to identify their goals in terms of future housing and employment, education and training

  • Signpost young people and access services that help them to manage areas of their lives which impact their ability to live independently

  • Safeguard the young people within the service

  • To work in compliance with legislative, regulatory requirements i.e. Children Act 1989, The Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000, Working Together 2013, Children and Families Act 2014

  • Work in accordance with strategic requirements

  • Ensure consistent, high quality delivery of the service

  • Work as a team to cover all CIC services


Essential requirements:

  • Previous experience in supporting vulnerable people

  • Expert knowledge within safeguarding and professional boundaries

  • An enhanced DBS with the children’s and adults list checked or willingness to obtain

  • Excellent communication skills and basic IT skills are essential
