YFYA Inspiring Careers in STEAM
Posted on December 2021
Last week we were honoured to be part of the 10th annual Your Future, Your Ambition event. YFYA inspires young people from diverse backgrounds into pursuing STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Maths) based careers, creating a stronger link between education and industry.
As part of the event, Elly Hanna and Ken Kittoe ran a virtual workshop, ‘Putting the Best You Forward’, drawing on their specialist insight to provide guidance to students, school leavers and graduates on how to create a great CV.
They also facilitated two mentoring sessions in partnership with PUSH, looking at Personal Branding and CV Writing & Interview Techniques; a panel of professionals from a number of leading UK organisations including GSK, AWS, Adobe, Proctor & Gamble, and Financial Force, responded to questions that would allow those beginning their career paths to learn from experts in the industry.
With over 700 attendees, the event delivered 50 virtual STEAM sessions, and with a live event set for 2022, we are excited at the opportunity to participate in person next year.
“I’m extremely passionate about educating the next generation and passing on information and expertise that I would love to have had when I was in their situation, and so if we were able to inspire just one young person then that would be a personal win.”
Ken Kittoe, Diversity, Inclusion & Engagement Associate
“Being part of YFYA was a real privilege, every individual involved was passionate, engaged and committed to inspiring the next generation. The mentoring sessions shared so much amazing advice and insight and I wish I’d had access to similar in my formative years. I’m really excited about being involved again next year and sharing the stage with such great advocates of STEAM industries.”
Elly Hanna, Head of External Communications
Huge thanks to everyone involved in making YFYA such a great event.
