Greg Jones Promotion

Greg Jones began his career at Venn Group in May 2004, and has been instrumental in developing a number of teams across our Midlands and South West offices.

Following his promotion to Director, we spoke to Greg about his eighteen-year career and what he has learned as a leader in recruitment.

 

Developing with the company

I knew that Venn Group was a company I wanted to develop my career with long-term. I have had the pleasure of working with great people and have valued the opportunity to develop as the company has expanded. I started before we even had a Birmingham office and it has been great to see how we have progressed over the years, establishing relationships within new and varied sectors.

Alongside developing multiple teams across the Midlands, a particular highlight has been the opportunity to be involved in the expansion of the South West office since 2016. It has been great to work within another office and experience its progression first-hand. The last couple of years have seen the teams and managers across both offices working incredibly hard to maintain growth through the challenge of the pandemic. It’s been exciting to see how we have developed, adapted and emerged in a very strong place.

 

Success measured by relationships

I get huge satisfaction from helping the clients that I work with; it is very important to me that Venn Group provide a market-leading service. Our success is measured by the numerous long-term relationships that we have built and developed over the years. I am always excited about working with new clients and having the chance to support them with their unique requirements.

The clients that we engage with help me to continue in my own learning and development. The market and the requirements are always changing, so being hands-on and working very closely with our partners is key. Communicating and collaborating with other leaders inside and outside of the business ensures that we are always sharing the best of our knowledge and experience.

 

Leading by example

When managing others, I believe it is key to work hard and lead by example, not asking people to do something that you would not do yourself. I have learned to appreciate the different experiences and development styles that people have; working with different approaches. Central to this has been placing trust in the people I work with and ensuring that they have the capacity to make their own decisions.

In this next step as Director, I’m looking forward to continuing to develop with my colleagues at Venn Group so we can provide the best service to our clients. I am extremely proud of the excellent teams that we have in both the Midlands and South West offices; it’s a very exciting time for the company.
