Ensuring a seamless transition for a planned requirement

In preparation for the maternity leave of their Digital and IT Supply Chain Manager, a London Borough required an interim solution with specific category knowledge to ensure service continuity

Priorities supported:

  • A skilled interim Digital and IT Supply Chain Manager whose category skills were complimented with project management experience and strong financial acumen

  • A candidate able to start working alongside the permanent manager at least 7 days pre-handover to ensure effective induction

  • Working closely in partnership with a recruiter able to effectively represent the role, the benefits of working for the borough and the specifics of the category

  • Advice on the specification and budget to ensure the right candidate was retained

Experience applied:

  • Having worked frequently with the council, our lead consultant was well-placed to use their knowledge of the borough to brief prospective candidates with a well-informed and accurate overview of the working environment and role

  • Our screening focused on the borough’s priorities of specific category knowledge and the applicants’ current and continuing availability

  • We briefed 35 procurement professionals with IT & Digital category experience and scrutinised their project management and financial skills

  • After initial screening, we fed back to the client how small changes to budget and/or role specification could secure the ideal candidate

Outcomes delivered:

  • Submitted a range of candidates, giving the client a clear view of how best to balance skills versus budget for a fully-informed decision

  • Following a panel interview and skills test, we secured an interim with solid category knowledge and significant supply-chain management experience

  • The successful candidate was active in post nine days prior to departure which allowed for a full and detailed handover

  • Having been personally recommended to the client, we were able to deliver this positive outcome via the LGRP framework

“Venn Group engaged with us very well, responded quickly and understood the brief. They acted quickly and gave us credible candidates at speed, and we were able to appoint on the first round of interviews which is the most important thing to me. Venn Group take the role seriously and the fact they have since followed up on the placement shows aftercare”
