An interim solution to impart knowledge, engage and influence

London Borough of Croydon required a Data Protection Officer able to shape and mentor the council’s methodology and response to data and information security.

Priorities supported:

  • An interim with extensive knowledge of the key legislations of data protection, FOI, as well as GDPR and EIR

  • Retain a supplier who understood the far-reaching implications of this role and the need for a candidate with the combination of engagement and area-expertise skills

  • Work with a trusted supplier familiar with the council and the team’s structure

  • Utilise the LGRP framework to procure services in an efficient and effective manner

Experience Applied:

  • Our decades of experience in local government, coupled with recent recruitment campaigns in this area of expertise, meant we had immediate knowledge of the available talent pool of suitable applicants

  • As sector specialists, we understood the depth of know-how required and targeted a shortlist with end-to-end knowledge of legislation from compliance to process implementation

  • Having previously partnered with the line manager, we were appointed exclusively as direct award under LGRP

Outcomes delivered:

  • Our shortlist of four candidates was submitted three days after the role was placed with us and all were invited to interview

  • Having listened and understood the requirement every candidate was appointable; when one applicant dropped out in this competitive market the client still had an excellent choice of talented interims

  • With previous experience of our service and having been supplied through the LGRP, the client had total confidence in not only the success of the placement but also its compliance process
