We’re delighted to announce that Stuart Birt has returned to Venn Group in the new role of Social Value Recruitment Lead to the Construction industry.
Building on our successful Empowering Employment initiative, Stuart will be working with our clients to advise on how they can meet their Section 106 objectives and develop a sustainable workforce through recruiting untapped talent.
We heard from Stuart about the benefits his role will bring:

I am thrilled to return to Venn Group as the Social Value Recruitment Lead for the Construction industry. My focus will be to partner with clients to provide socially inclusive recruitment solutions to support their projects, working with candidates who are furthest from the employment markets to build pathways to work.

Venn Group’s service has always been built around collaboration and a personal approach, and our belief in employment for all, which established our well-established Empowering Employment initiative, is the perfect platform on which to build this social value recruitment provision. I believe this makes us perfectly positioned to make a real difference in the lives of candidates and offer sustainable routes to long-term employment.

Our service will work with candidates on an individual basis, identifying their particular barriers to work and liaising with suitable stakeholders to develop a bespoke pathway to employment. For example, if a candidate wanted to move into construction but lacked the qualifications, we would discuss available entry-level opportunities and coordinate with our network of training providers to enroll them on a suitable course. Once completed, we would assist them as they progress into the industry.

Our full wrap-around support also includes advising candidates on CV writing and interview techniques, providing an understanding of the client’s values and standards of conduct, and assisting their transition into work. Following this, our ongoing mentoring will address any issues or concerns when on site, liaising with both parties to ensure successful ongoing employment.

The commitment by the Construction industry to unlock talent and address market shortages will create a sustainable and diverse workforce, and I look forward to facilitating their aims.

For my first year I will engage with construction employers, advising on how we provide recruitment solutions to meet the required Section 106 objectives. This will involve initial consultation to identify suitable on-site opportunities for entry-level candidates and collaborating with our training partners on courses which will match the client’s requirements. With a course of action established, we will match these opportunities to potential candidates with the help of our inclusive recruitment partners.

This new position for Venn Group will create new talent pathways and is another reflection of our belief in employment for all. I am excited to be a part of this development.
