Case Study | Permanent Recruitment - Central Bedfordshire Council

In July 2023, Central Bedfordshire Council approached us to provide innovative solutions and strategic guidance to successfully execute a compelling recruitment campaign for their Deputy Monitoring Officer position.

The council's initial advertising campaign had not attracted the high-calibre applicants needed. As a result, our expertise in the governance and legal sector of the local government market was crucial to revitalizing the campaign and ensuring a successful outcome.

Our solution:

  • Reviewed their specification and package against market trends and our recent campaigns conducted for other authorities

  • Created a revised requirement brief that would satisfy the balance needed between budget and desired experience

  • Targeted passive and emerging talent who would not have been reached by the previous campaign

  • Expanded the search radius to engage with candidates outside the local area, whose requirements aligned with the flexible hybrid work structure

The outcome:

  • Engaging with our active talent network enabled us to further refine the shortlisting criterium before approaching passive talent

  • Our strategic and informed approach opened the role to new talent and facilitated our provision of three appointable candidates

  • Managing all aspects of this campaign ensured time and talent was not lost, and our successful candidate was in situ and adding value six months after our requisition
