Lisa Subhash Promotion
Posted on May 2024
Congratulations to Lisa Subhash on her promotion to Principal Consultant. We heard from Lisa about her successful career with us.
What has been your proudest achievement?
The positive impact I’ve made in candidates’ lives and the value I’ve added to the organizations I work with. Working with public sector organisations, it’s nice to see the impact of the roles that we fill – from setting up family hubs for residents and deploying new websites to supporting councils recovering from bankruptcy after the wave of S114 notices. I have also supported a number of candidates who have made the move from permanent to interim positions (quite a daunting task if you are used to the security of full-time employment) and enjoy an ongoing relationship with them as they move from placement to placement with me.
What do you enjoy the most about working with the Local Government market?
Working with councils has given me a real insight and appreciation for all the work that goes on behind the scenes to ensure day-to-day services are maintained and improved. I love that we are helping to deliver better public services in the city that we live, and we get to work with people who are so motivated and driven, and care so deeply about the residents they are supporting.
What key lessons have you learned from those who have managed you?
Industry knowledge is essential, and my leadership team has it in buckets – there is always someone close by to advise, guide, and provide me with a blueprint for what good recruitment looks like. Goal setting is another vital skill I’ve learned; setting myself clear, achievable objectives to help steer my team and me towards success. This is a valuable life lesson that I have also applied beyond the workplace.
What has been the biggest change you’ve noticed in your approach since you began recruitment?
I have developed an eye for potential, often seeing beyond what’s presented on paper to identify candidates who could thrive in a given role. Resilience and adaptability are also skills I have developed, and they are essential when working in such a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
What characteristics make a good recruiter into a great recruiter?
A proactive mindset and doing what you say you’re going to do; always scouting for potential talent and building relationships even before vacancies pop up. A great recruiter has a consultative approach, offering insights and guidance to both candidates and hiring organisations.
How do you make sure you continue to learn?
In recruitment, you meet new people every day, and you can learn something from everyone you meet. Having an open mind and never assuming that you know everything means you can learn from every interaction.
We also heard from Lisa's management team who have supported her throughout her career:
