Interim Building Surveyor - Diagnostics
Based in North London, hybrid working
Length: 3-Months (Potential for extension)

We’re working with a London borough to recruit an experienced Diagnostic Surveyor to join their Housing Property Services team. This role plays a vital part in improving housing conditions by carrying out inspections, diagnosing repair issues, and ensuring timely and high-quality resolution of defects in tenants' homes.
Key Responsibilities of the Interim Building Surveyor - Diagnostics:
- Carry out site inspections to diagnose complex building defects and raise repair orders using SOR/specifications
- Prepare reports for condensation cases, high-value repair panels, and insurance-related claims (e.g., fire, flood, subsidence)
- Manage and oversee remedial works on site, including quality assurance checks, variations, and contractor liaison
- Advise on tenant/leaseholder alteration requests and ensure compliance with Council processes
- Maintain accurate electronic records and contribute to the continuous improvement of repair policies and procedures
Skills, experience and knowledge required of the Interim Building Surveyor – Diagnostics:
- Strong background in housing repairs, building diagnostics, or maintenance surveying within a local authority or social housing setting
- Experience writing technical reports and advising on building defect remedies, condensation, and structural issues
- Good knowledge of Building Regulations, housing legislation, and repair responsibilities for tenants and leaseholders
