Buildings Condition Surveyor (Schools)
Duration: 3 - 6 month contract initially with possible extensions
Rate: £250 - £300 (Inside IR35) Negotiable dependant on experience
Location: Midlands – Hybrid working model
NB: Full UK Driving License and access to own car essential
We are currently working with a Local Authority who require the assistance of a Buildings Conditions Surveyor on an Interim basis. Please see below for details:
Role Responsibilities
- To provide condition surveying for elemental assessment of schools, offices, heritage buildings, depots, libraries, centre etc.
- To assess the condition of Building aspects and report on their condition against agreed national criteria on a cyclical basis and to provide cost estimations against identified works
- Complete agreed annual programme of Condition Surveys to DfE standards and the standards directed in the internal “Surveyors Guidance Notes” document
- To operate as part of a small dedicated team in the delivery of the annual Condition Survey programme
- Supply accurate information in a format that is compliant with existing procedures
- Provide professional advice and support to Customers and Building Managers
- Provide information, advice and professional support to Surveyors
- Liaise directly with Customers and Building Managers relating directly to Condition Survey Information and promote the services provided by the Property Maintenance and Compliance Team and Property Services
- Compile additional reports as required covering aspects such as pre-let surveys and other surveys
- Set up and continuously improve existing systems to ensure a dynamic updating system to capture all relevant information and changes to building stock
- Proactively input into the in house schedule of rates and lead on working group to ensure continuous annual updating of costs
- Assist with providing support to the area maintenance teams as required for reactive and planned maintenance schemes. Prepare reports, specifications, pre-contract documentation, orders and supervise work to agreed standards
- Carry out such other duties that may be instructed by Team Manager within the post holders technical and professional competence
The ideal candidate will have
- Experience using CAFM systems and mobile technology to capture condition surveys
- HNC/HND/Degree in Buildings Surveying/Construction or appropriate qualification and experience
- Experience condition surveying within the education sector (essential)
- Condition surveying experience must be building fabric (not from a mechanical / electrical background)
- Willing to complete a DBS disclosure application if offered the post
- Must have a valid UK driving licence and access to a car for business use
