Interim Capital Accountant Immedaitely Required
Our client, a well-respected public sector body in Salisbury, is looking for a Capital Accountant to come on board on a temporary basis for an initial 3 month contract. To be responsible for the maintenance and timely updating of both the Trust’s fixed asset system (RAM) and the Capital Programme spreadsheet, including the appropriate treatment of VAT.
Location: Salisbury (Remote working once trained)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday-Friday)
Length of Contract: 3 Months +
Hourly Rate: £16.43 -£18.37 via Umbrella(DOE)

Day to Day Duties:
- Work closely with colleagues in Finance, Estates, Informatics, Facilities and Medical Devices Management to provide a comprehensive, timely and efficient service. This will sometimes also involve liaison with external suppliers
- Deal with routine and complex telephone, written and oral enquiries in a timely and accurate manner, communicating the information, often to non-finance staff and managers, in a concise uncomplicated format which can be easily understood
- Meet with project managers on a monthly basis to update them on the capital expenditure position, and to respond efficiently to their requirements
- Provide supporting information to enable managers to track and forecast spend on their projects
- Allocate financial codes to all new projects and to maintain an excel file detailing the spend and commitments against each project, alongside any amendments to the agreed Trust capital plan
- Run the monthly depreciation on the fixed asset system (RAM) and process adjustments in the financial ledger (Oracle)
- Enter all additions and disposals onto the capital asset system and maintain a reconciliation to the financial ledger
- Ensure that VAT issues on all capital projects are dealt with in an accurate and consistent manner, drawing on the expertise of the Trust’s external VAT advisors as necessary
- Liaise with project managers to collate and draft a rolling 3 year capital plan, formatting the information into a summary for presentation to the Trust Board at the start of each financial year
Essential Skills:
- Intermediate MS Office skills (Excel)
- AAT Qualified
- Understanding of Capital Accounting processes
Desirable skills:
- Part Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA
