Category Manager – People and Corporate
Location: London, hybrid working (2dpw onsite, flexible)
Length: 6 months fixed term contract with possibility of extension
Start: July 2024
An excellent opportunity has arisen with one of our London based local authority clients for a Category Manager, who will lead on the management and delivery of a range of projects across the Council’s People and Corporate procurement category.
Key responsibilities of the Category Manager include:
- Leading on the development of strategic sourcing options for procurements within the People and Corporate category and taking a leadership role in direct negotiations with suppliers, clients and other providers
- Managing relationships with delivery partners, providers, and suppliers to commission, evaluate and enhance appropriate service delivery within area of responsibility
- Advising Directors, Members, staff, external consultants and others on complex procurement and contractual matters associated with projects
- Managing and developing staff as well as relevant procurement training
Essential experience for the Category Manager:
- Directly worked with at least some of the following categories – Public Health; Adult Social Care; SEN; IT; Digital
- Significant experience operating at senior manager level in recent work history
- Staff management
- Previously worked in local government
- CIPS qualification is preferable but not essential
