Cyber Security Manager

Venn Group are working with a Local Authority in London to recruit an Interim Cyber Security Manager.

The Interim Cyber Security Manager will be responsible for and overseeing and mitigating the cyber security risk profile of the council, and articulating the value of cyber security and security architecture across the organisation, working with stakeholders at all levels.

This role is inside of IR35. Hybrid working is required for this role, with offices in London.

Responsibilities:

• Provide a clear vision and policy direction for all Information Security and Cyber Security activities
• Oversee incident response planning as well as investigating and reporting actual or potential security incidents
• Establish effective initiatives, business cases and roadmaps and present them to senior management when required
• Defining and planning a strategy to be prepared for any type of disruption, mitigating the risk of downtime
• Ensure the council meets and maintains compliance with codes of connection and standards set out by public sector networking providers and partner organisations
• Responsible for creating appropriate and agile security controls and processes, and leading programmes of improvement in response to changing security threats and risks
• Undertake and report on regular information security audits/access control checks as required

Required experience:

• Expert knowledge of adopting business-value focussed best practice security methodology (including standards such as ISO/IEC 27001 and Cyber Essentials)
• Demonstrable knowledge of using information and security legislation to enable business outcomes (e.g. GDPR, FOI, PCIDSS)
• Demonstrable knowledge of modern technology security practices around services, infrastructure, hosting and platforms, open-source technology and software development practice, including the various options around self-built, low-code and outsourced services
• Comfortable presenting ideas clearly and confidently to senior management
