We are looking for an experienced Data Migration Lead to play a critical role in the establishment of a new data hub in the EMEA region for a global financial services firm. In particular, your expertise will be vital in overseeing the seamless transition of two different entities.
Collaborating closely with our programme team, you will leverage your knowledge and proficiency to lead the charge in all aspects of data migration. This role necessitates engaging with stakeholders across various functions, including department-level data and IT teams, to ensure the delivery of fit-for-purpose migration services for the programme. Your ability to define the migration strategy, introduce new core capabilities and tools, and ultimately facilitate an effective migration process before March 2024 will be instrumental. Additionally, you will be responsible for educating and persuading stakeholders at all levels about the indispensability of robust data migration, while comprehending and articulating any dependencies on other workstreams.
Working predominantly with IT, Data, and Programme Office functions, your primary objectives will encompass:
- Establishing an agreed Data Migration approach encompassing client data and any requisite activity or configuration data (e.g., Products, Instruments) to support the management of migrated clients within the merged entity This may involve incorporating market reference and static data required in Corporate Banking to effectively handle new business activities
- Identifying and addressing dependencies related to data quality, both prior to and following the migration process
- Collaborating with the IT team to meticulously design and construct the necessary scripts and tools for successful migration, including monitoring and quality assurance mechanisms to instill confidence in the process
- Rigorously testing the relevant migration tools and tasks and seamlessly executing them during the Production cutover
The successful execution of this role may result in expanded responsibilities encompassing data migration projects in 2024/25, such as designing and leading the Data Migration strategy for the Unity Programme, authoring technical documentation describing the migration process, establishing integrated relationships with IT teams to develop and test migration-supporting technology, collaborating with operations teams to design, develop, and approve the setup of reference/static data for testing and go-live purposes, ensuring data quality meets requisite standards prior to migration, and coordinating with business process stakeholders to consider the contextual implications.
To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- Extensive experience leading teams in the successful delivery of data migration projects
- Demonstrated expertise in setting up new data migration tool suites, developing comprehensive monitoring and reporting mechanisms to provide assurance, cleansing existing data, and establishing robust pipelines to facilitate the movement of data to new platforms
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to identify, scope, and develop innovative migration solutions
- A creative and analytical approach to problem-solving and solution scoping for data quality challenges
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to communicate technical concepts to non-technical colleagues
- A strong understanding of project management principles as applied to data migration work
- Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis, including querying large datasets, and familiarity with ETL concepts and tools
- Knowledge of client data within a financial services environment
Desirable qualifications include experience in completing customer data migrations, expertise in KYC processes, establishing data migration functions from inception and implementing relevant best practices and supporting ecosystems, as well as a comprehensive understanding of critical data used within financial services settings.
