Role: Desktop Engineer

A reputable organisation local to Nottingham are looking for someone to be responsible for providing guidance to and liaising with the ICT Service Management and Service Desk (SD) teams to provide an excellent desktop and application support service to staff (on-site and remote) and to external customers and stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Resolve technical support issues affecting the Authority’s estate of desktop hardware and software applications in accordance with agreed SLAs/OLAs, providing assistance, advice and fixes where they are escalated to you (via the SD) for Authority staff and customers.
- Appropriately manage support calls/tickets in terms of fault severity/business impact, chasing any resolving teams (internal and external) for progress updates, routing and updating calls intelligently and escalating problems where required.
- Ensure that the desktop support regime remains in place, is adhered to, maintained and developed, whilst ensuring that IT services within the Authority meet the business and stakeholders needs, are secure and meet industry best practice and mandated compliance standards.
- Collaboratively work with the (x2) System Administrators (Wintel, Virtualisation, Storage & Backup) and DBAs to help support the Authority’s estate of servers and resident applications, maintaining their integrity, availability and confidentiality at all times.
- Collaboratively work with the Service Management team and lead the authoring, maintenance and review of knowledge base articles in use by the SD ensuring that they are continuously reviewed and updated where appropriate to ensure that 1st line support fix rates are maximised
The successful candidate will have:
- Extensive experience in PowerShell, SCCM, Automation, Application packaging and Scripting
- To manage your own performance and be accountable for meeting individual, team and corporate objectives
- To act in accordance with the Scheme of Delegation and ensure propriety and regularity in the handling of public funds
- To effectively assess and manage risks
- To contribute towards the management and delivery of the team’s objectives, budgets and financial records
