Environmental Health Officer – Environmental Protection & Contaminated Land
Hours: 37 per week
Rate: £315 per day
Location: Hybrid (50% remote, 50% office/site based)
Start date: 15 September 2025
Duration: 20 weeks, with potential for extension
Role overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer with expertise in environmental protection and contaminated land. The successful candidate will carry out a range of statutory and policy-driven duties, ensuring compliance and providing professional guidance across environmental protection matters.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections of premises, business operations, construction sites, and permitted processes to ensure compliance with statutory and policy requirements
- Prepare IPPC reports and risk-rate premises
- Review, assess, and process environmental permits and variations
- Support investigations into statutory nuisances, including noise and air pollution
- Provide high-quality responses to planning consultations
Essential qualifications & experience:
- Diploma or Degree in Environmental Health (or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge and experience in contaminated land
- Demonstrated expertise in planning consultations, air pollution control legislation, and statutory nuisance processes
- Understanding of noise monitoring equipment and protocols
- Significant experience in environmental protection, pollution control, and statutory nuisance
- Full UK driving licence
