Estates Surveyor
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 3 Months Initially (likely extension)
Rate: £330 p/d (Negotiable and open to rates)

Duties
- Process applications for land purchases and handle day-to-day estate management queries, including site measurements and property viewings
- Manage a caseload involving rent reviews, lease renewals, assignments, licences, wayleaves, and easements from negotiation to completion
- Conduct site inspections to assess lease compliance, resolve boundary issues, confirm ownership, and take accurate land and property measurements
- Maintain up-to-date business rates and utilities data, assist in estate reviews, and contribute to ongoing property-related projects
- Provide technical advice on landlord and tenant matters, support rent collection, and liaise with tenants to explore and implement payment solutions
- Stay informed on current case law and industry changes to ensure estate management practices remain compliant and effective
- Assist with annual asset valuations, maintain accurate asset records, and support valuation site visits where required
- Prepare vacant or underused sites for letting, liaise with external advisors, and coordinate fee proposals
- Support the council’s sustainability goals by identifying opportunities across the property portfolio for energy efficiency and environmental improvements.
- Collaborate with internal departments (legal, finance, facilities) and external consultants or agents to ensure regulatory compliance and strong stakeholder relationships
Requirements
- Education or CPD in property/surveying (RICS trainee or willing to qualify)
- Experience in inspections, lease matters, rent reviews, lettings, and licences
- Strong reporting, IT, and time management skills
- Confident communicator with stakeholder and presentation experience
- Full UK driving licence and own transport
- Able to work flexibly, independently, and within a team
- Awareness of public sector property and equality standards
