Interim Housing Grants Surveyor
Based in North-West London, hybrid working
Length: 3-Months (Potential for extension)

We’re working with a London borough to recruit an experienced Housing Grants Surveyor to support the delivery of Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs), discretionary housing repairs, and adaptation services within the Private Sector Housing team. This is a front-line, customer-facing role delivering full surveying and agency services to vulnerable and disabled residents living in private or owner-occupied homes.
Key Responsibilities of the Interim Housing Grants Surveyor:
- Provide a full end-to-end surveying and agency service for minor, major, and complex housing grant schemes
- Conduct property inspections, prepare plans/specifications, obtain tenders, and manage contracts through to completion
- Act as a key liaison with Occupational Therapists, clients, contractors, and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality, customer-focused adaptations
- Act as a “Trusted Assessor” when required, supporting disabled residents by identifying suitable adaptations without full OT intervention
- Advise on grant eligibility and deliver services in accordance with Housing and Public Health legislation, Building Regulations, and Equality standards
- Represent the council in negotiations and dispute resolution, and maintain accurate records and project documentation
Skills, experience and knowledge required of the Interim Housing Grants Surveyor:
- Proven experience delivering housing grants and adaptation services (ideally DFGs) in a local authority or housing setting
- Experience managing surveying-based projects, including drawing up specifications, tendering, and supervising on-site works
- Strong knowledge of building regulations, access standards, and refurbishment practices
