Head of Adult Social Care Services

We are working with a local authority who are looking for a Head of Adult Social Care & Occupational therapy, you will be leading and managing the council’s Adult Social Care Teams in accordance with the Council’s Vision and Values, policy and other objectives. In doing this to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency.

Location: Southwest based Local Authority 

Set-up: Remote

Rate: £550 per day via umbrella, inside IR35

Duration: 4-month contract

Hours: Full-time position

Purpose of the job

• The primary purpose of this post is to lead and manage the council’s Adult Social Care and Occupational Therapy Teams in accordance with the Council’s Vision and Values, policy and other objectives. 
• To lead on the operational and strategic development of services and performance targets for services directly provided and services commissioned under delegated responsibilities.
• Responsibility for the leadership of statutory social care services and social work practice, including ensuring governance and safeguarding standards. This will include working closely with all members of the Senior Management team.

Responsibilities include:

• Taking a professional strategic and operational lead for social care across the organisation, with a specific responsibility for leading, supporting and advising on the quality of social work and social care practice and service standards
• To lead, develop the service ensuring that spending is appropriate, effective and properly controlled to ensure the efficient and effective use of resources
• Ensure professional leadership for innovative and Care Act compliant social work practice, to continue to directly engage and work with people who use services and their families and carers.
• ensure that social work practice and social care services are safeguarding and mental capacity act compliant.
• draw on professional experience to influence strategic decision-making across the organisation.
• use knowledge and skills to inform the wider functions of the organisation, beyond social work and ‘social care’ boundaries.
• To manage and professionally supervise, support and develop effective team working with service/team managers, aswell as delegated budgets targets
• To work closely with colleagues in the Council, including those working within the integrated Mental Health Teams and the Adult Social Care Commissioning Teams. To also work closely with colleagues working in other organisations, provider agencies, the Integrated Care System (ICS), and the Police.

Requirements:

• Certificate of Qualification in Social Work such as a Diploma in Social Work, CQSW or a Degree in Social Work.
• Professional Registration (Social Worker) with the appropriate professional body
• Relevant Post Qualification Training
• Resilient, able to manage a diverse range of demands and respond quickly to changes
• Expert knowledge in the field of social care and familiar with several related professional disciplines gained in a complex environment.
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
