An opportunity has arisen for a strategic leader to step into the pivotal role of Head of Delivery for Sustainable Transport. As Head of Delivery, you will be responsible for spearheading and managing the detailed design and construction of a groundbreaking multi-modal road investment program.
This is a senior, strategic, and high-impact role which would be well suited to a Civil Engineer with a passion for delivering large capital projects. It is offered on a hybrid working basis with three days a week onsite and the remainder working remotely.
The role:
- Ensure the delivery of all projects, meeting predefined scope, timelines, and financial targets
- Lead a dynamic, multi-agency team overseeing the development and construction of major road infrastructure projects, with an annual spend responsibility of approximately £40 million
- Forge and sustain collaborative relationships with colleagues, local authorities, funding bodies, and diverse stakeholders to align projects with the relevant requirements
- Provide technical leadership, steering the supply chain, and championing innovative procurement and commercial strategies for cost-effective project delivery
- Direct the activities and performance of consultants, professional service providers, and contractors, ensuring efficient, timely, and cost-effective progress
- Lead the preparation and delivery of comprehensive reports for senior management, elected members, committees, and the Local Cabinet
- Collaborate with key stakeholders and elected members to champion Roads projects within local communities.
About you:
- Degree level qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Proven experience in delivering large-scale, technically complex engineering projects
- Extensive experience in commissioning technical services through strategic procurement
- Demonstrated and thorough working knowledge of NEC4 and NEC3 contract options
