An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join the finance team for a healthcare provider in Hertfordshire as a head of Financial Services. The role reports directly to the Chief Finance Officer and will act at a senior corporate level and act as deputy to the financial controller when necessary.. The position will be starting as soon as possible on an initial temporary basis with a view to permanent with fulltime hours and a hybrid working pattern.

Your duties will include:
Responsible for effective management and organisation of the work of the team, ensuring that all deadlines are met and any issues escalated at an early stage.
Proactively monitor performance of outsourced functions including ELFS Shared Services, WHHTT Procurement, and ENHT Payroll. Utilise available tools to monitor performance of both Trust and outsourced functions.
Lead responsibility for the production of Trust and Charitable funds year end accounts including liaison with auditors and with the Company Secretary on finance aspects of production of the Annual Report. Liaison with auditors on a year-round basis including (but not exclusively) work on the mid-year Interim Audit and proactively raising issues of discussion or potential contention in advance.
Lead responsibility for the integrity of the financial ledger, ensuring it is complete and correct at all times; ensure all reconciliations are completed on a timely basis.
Provide advice to both finance and non-finance staff, budget holders, and senior managers, being solution-focused and also ensuring the Trust’s Standing Financial Instructions are followed at all times.
Assist with delivery of finance training to both finance and non-finance staff.
The successful candidate should possess:
CCAB qualified accountant, with 3 years post qualification experience or significant experience in a similar role.
Significant additional experience operating at a senior level within a Finance department.
Detailed knowledge of NHS policies, financial systems and accounting standards to meet and improve services.
