Head of Fostering

We are working with Devon County Council who are looking for an experienced Head of Service - Fostering to lead Devon’s Fostering and Kinship Services.

Location: Devon

Set-up: Hybrid – 2 days per week onsite

Rate: £650 per day via umbrella inside IR35

Duration: Initially 5-months  

Hours: Full time

Responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership for developing, improving, and modernising the services, to support the council vision and key priorities and address changes in legislation and ensure best practice, making best use of financial and human resources
• Strategic leadership of fostering, kinship care, promoting stability services, recruitment of carers and CPAT services including working with partners to secure good outcomes for all children and families
• Work with internal and external stakeholder, children and families to oversee the implementation of the council key strategies and underpinning action plans
• Ensure effective risk management practice through the development of excellent internal and external collaboration and communication
• Annual budgetary responsibility ensuring that targets are met

Requirements:

• Local government experience required for initial shortlisting, then thereafter at the clients discretion
• Degree Level Post-graduate/professional social work qualification/Social Work England registered
• Evidence of continuous professional development relevant to the requirements of the job
• Specialised area of practice, fostering including providing direction and interpretation of relevant legislation, government guidance, national initiatives, research, and council policy
