Head of Health & Safety wanted for an immediate start

Location:        Thames Valley Region

Length:           Temporary – Permanent

Hours:             37.5 hours per week (Mon – Fri)

Main responsibilities of the role

• Responsible for ensuring that the Trust has appropriate Health & Safety, security and fire safety management policies, processes and systems in place
• Manage Health & Safety Manager, Security Manager, Senior Fire Safety Manager and Fire Safety Officer
• Be the competent person for the management of Health & Safety fulfilling the Trust’s legal obligations
• Develop and maintain training programmes and supporting documentation for Trust staff, Managers and Directors, ensuring that responsibilities are recognised and undertaken
• Further develop the culture of Health & Safety across the organisation, developing the Health & Safety team to support this
• Ensure that the department has a robust risk management approach in place and that risks are recorded, and managed appropriately
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff side Health & Safety Representatives, Fire Authorities, Local Police Authorities and NHS Protect

Essential requirements:

• You must have experience working in a similar role, ideally within a hospital previously
• Preferably hold degree/diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management, Fire Safety Management, or related qualification
• Must have good working knowledge of current Health & Safety and fire safety related legislation
