Head of Service – Adults Commissioning
Location: West Midlands
Start: ASAP
Rate: Negotiable dependant on experience (Umbrella Inside IR35)
Duration: 3 months initially (likely extensions)
Predominantly remote, with occasional onsite meetings
Our client, a local authority in the West Midlands is seeking a skilled individual to join as Head of Adults Commissioning.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Adults Commissioning Service, ensuring effective delivery of high-quality services to adults in need within the area
- Develop and implement commissioning strategies, policies, and frameworks to support the delivery of services that meet the diverse needs of our adult population
- Lead and manage a team of commissioning professionals, providing guidance, support, and mentoring to ensure the effective and efficient functioning of the service
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including partner organizations, service providers, and community groups, to develop innovative commissioning approaches and enhance service provision
- Identify emerging trends and best practices in adult social care, and ensure the integration of these into commissioning strategies to drive continuous improvement and positive outcomes for service users
- Oversee the monitoring and evaluation of commissioned services, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and performance indicators
- Effectively manage financial resources, including budgetary planning and control, to achieve value for money and maximize the impact of commissioning activities
Requirements:
- Significant experience in commissioning adult social care services, within a local authority setting
- Proven track record of strategic leadership and managing teams, including the ability to motivate and inspire staff to achieve targets and deliver high-quality services
- In-depth knowledge of adult social care policies, legislation, and regulatory frameworks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative and effective commissioning strategies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
- Experience in budgetary planning, control, and resource allocation
- A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in service delivery and commissioning activities
