Job Title: Housing Options Officer

Job description: A Local Authority in West Yorkshire is looking for a Housing Options Officer to provide professional expertise for the organisation. The role is for 2-3 months on a 37 hour per week basis.
Duties:
- Undertaking comprehensive interviews with members of the public regarding housing and homelessness issues and providing appropriate and correct information and advice
- Interviewing face to face or over the telephone, in clients’ homes, council and partner agency offices or other location that is suitable for the client
- Managing a caseload of housing options and homelessness prevention and relief cases
- Undertaking pro-active homelessness prevention work including negotiating with landlords and mortgage companies, advocating with a range of agencies and attending court if necessary
- Developing fit for purpose personal housing plans with clients
- Undertaking statutory homelessness investigations, make appropriate and legally correct decisions within target timescales and end duties under the Homelessness Reduction Act as soon as is appropriate
The successful candidate must have:
- A strong understanding of homelessness legislation
- Enhanced Child and Adult DBS
