Housing Support Worker (Homelessness)
Duration: 3 Months + Possible Extension
Location: Coventry
Hours: 08:00 – 17:00 / 10:00 – 19:00 Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday shifts to be worked! (40 hours per week)
Pay Rate: £14.00 per hour via Umbrella
An opening has arisen for a Support Worker for a homeless charity in Coventry. This position will require candidates with a strong work ethic and ability to work well under pressure as the post shall be lone working. Due to the nature of this role we shall only be accepting female applicants.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Maintaining and protecting the safety and security of the premises whilst having a supportive presence to residents
- Maintaining a visible presence in and around the building
- Delivering housing related support regarding benefits and welfare
- Responding to the needs of clients and residents as required
- Maintaining the cleanliness of the property and being mindful of any health and safety issues
- Conducting security checks and report security breaches and building damage
- Reporting issues relating to the personal security and safety of residents to the appropriate support staff
- Experience of supporting vulnerable individuals and those who are homeless/facing homelessness
- Encouraging individuals to make better lifestyle choices, such as: attending support sessions relating to money, housing and substance addiction
- Liaising with other agencies such as Drug and Alcohol services to encourage tailored support
- Managing risk effectively by observing guidelines for safer working through relevant policies and procedures
- Establishing positive working relationships with clients to facilitate their engagement with homeless services
- Undertaking initial risk assessments including Section 188 assessments in line with local authority procedures
The successful candidate will have:
- An enhanced DBS
- Previous experience working in this position
