HR Officer
Start: ASAP
Duration: 3 – 6 Month contract with extensions possible
Rate: £21.29 per hour via an Umbrella Company (May be negotiable dependant on experience)n
Location: East Midlands based organisation (Mixture of office and home working - travel arrangement between sites essential)
Role Description:
We are currently working with an organisation who require the assistance of a HR Officer, in order to assist with day to day HR matters such as disciplinary investigations, sickness, capability and probations.
Role Specification
- Provide professional advice to managers and employees on all matters relating to employment including terms and conditions, policies and procedures with reference to employment law to ensure fair and consistent application
- Undertake investigations, assisting with writing reports, managing the appropriate paperwork and documentation for all parties involved in a variety of Employment Hearings
- Provide comprehensive advice, support and recommendations on the organisations Recruitment and Selection procedures
- Provide advice and assistance on the Local Government Pension Scheme and general information to retiring employees
- Provide advice on maternity, paternity, adoption and parental leave entitlements etc, and ensure the appropriate correspondence is completed by employees and responded to by the Personnel section
- Support managers and employers in the operation of the organisation’s welfare function ensuring a pro-active approach is taken to health at work
- Assist with research, creation and recommend the implementation of relevant strategies, policies and procedures in response to new legislation, local government conditions of service, good practice and ACAS guidance, which also achieve corporate and directorate objectives
- Ensure that good industrial relations are maintained throughout the organisation, liaising with Trade Unions as appropriate
Essential Requirements:
- Professionally qualified (ideally to Associate CIPD or equivalent level of experience)
- Access to own transport for movement around council owned offices
- Possess a breadth and depth of experience/knowledge within a HR environment
- Strong understanding of HR Policies, procedures and processes for HR and Business Support in order to advise and inform
- Experience of managing the full range of HR including recruitment, supervision, performance and disciplinary matters
- Ability to apply HR solutions in a pragmatic and service focused manner
