Independent Reviewing Officer
Location: West Midlands
Start: March 2023
Duration: 3 months initially (likely extensions)
Rate: Competitive salary Inside IR35 (Negotiable dependant on experience)
Working Pattern: Hybrid, Full-time (37 hours)
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer to join a great Local Authority based in the West Midlands on an interim basis.
Responsibilities:
- To fulfill the responsibilities under the statutory guidance - “IRO Handbook 2010”
- To manage and chair Statutory LAC Reviews and Child Protection Conferences
- To review the quality of social work assessments of children subject to child protection or looked after procedures,
- To maintain high standards at children looked after reviews, ensuring meetings are child-centred and focused on the needs of the child
- To ensure that child protection plans are explicit in their expectations of parties and contain specific timescales for delivery as well contingency plans (SMART)
- To support the implementation of the Public Law Outline through the creation of explicit child protection plans
- To provide a quality assurance role ensuring continuing high standards and improved outcomes for children
Essential Requirements:
- Applicants must be able to drive, have a driving licence and be a car owner
- Professional Social Work qualification
- Current HCPC registration
- Post Qualifying training in Child Protection
- Enhanced DBS Check for Regulated Activity – Children's (If you do not have a current one on the update service, we will process this for you at offer stage)
- Experience of IRO work (Chairing Child Protection Conferences)
- IT skills (Able to use outlook emails/ set up meetings using the outlook calendar and use of Integrated Children’s Systems such as Liquid Logic etc.)
