Interim Senior Public Health Principal

A local authority in London is recruiting for an interim Senior Public Health Principal to develop the robust and innovative approaches the council has formed in response to COVID as part of an integrated CYP team across public health, Children, Schools and Families Directorate and CCG.
Key Responsibilities of the Interim Senior Public Health Principal:
- Lead and manage robust IPC and outbreak support to schools, early years and other children’s settings
- Lead and oversee monitoring systems for tracking and responding to outbreaks (e-system and GIS mapping)
- Lead the implementation of the innovative Schools and Early Years COVID Resilience programme, which is embedding COVID and IPC resilience through a network of COVID leads
- Lead and manage local authority COVID vaccination response, including oversight of vaccination equity
- Commission an exciting youth participation programme
- Mange a team of three IPC co-ordinators and a Vaccination Equity manager
- Lead and manage a team of Young Inspectors who are leading Young COVID Champion Networks for under 18-year olds and for 18-29-year olds
Skills and experience required Interim Senior Public Health Principal:
- Experience of working on Children and young people’s or adult’s public health programmes and/or commissioning
- Conceptual and analytical skills demonstrated by degree level education or equivalent
- Masters qualification in Public health/Health Policy or related subject or equivalent professional qualification
- Knowledge of health strategy, policy development and public health systems
- Ability to negotiate at a senior level both within and outside the local authority, including in challenging situations, to achieve a positive outcome
