Interim Strategic Finance Business Partner
Based in London, hybrid working & Inside IR35
Length: 3 months
We’re seeking a Strategic FBP who plays a pivotal leadership role, acting as the principal financial adviser to senior executives and service leaders while driving strong financial performance across their assigned business area. The role provides high‑quality strategic insight, financial modelling and risk analysis to support major decisions, leads financial planning across revenue, capital and the balance sheet and ensures effective financial governance.
Key Responsibilities of the Strategic FBP:
- Play a key leadership role within the Finance Management Team, providing strategic direction across all finance activities for an assigned business area
- Act as the lead finance partner for senior executives and service leaders, covering revenue, capital, balance sheet, financial reporting, monitoring and management accounting
- Provide challenge, assurance and high‑quality financial advice to executive leaders, strengthening financial performance and governance
- Deliver business modelling, financial risk analysis and dynamic management information to support strategic decision‑making
- Support budget holders with managing income, expenditure, financial planning and investment decisions, ensuring robust financial oversight
- Lead the financial input into change initiatives, providing full financial modelling and representing financial implications across the organisation
- Manage and motivate a high‑performing team including an Assistant Business Partner, Financial Analysts and Accountancy Assistants
Skills, Experience and Knowledge required of the Strategic FBP:
- Full Professional accountancy level qualification (CCAB)
- Experience of team management including goal setting and performance review
- Experience of monitoring a revenue budget and operating in accordance with financial policy and requirements
- experience of the budget setting process within a local authority and the statutory requirements
