Linux Systems Administrator
Venn Group is working with a great public sector organisation in London who are looking for a Linux Systems Administrator on a permanent basis to help provide high quality IT services for the Linux Infrastructure meeting the requirements of the department.
Day rate: £50,000 - £56,000
Location: London (2 days on site per week)

Job responsibilities include:
- Provide a secure and reliable service for the IT Linux Infrastructure team for all staff
- Support and further develop a highly available, well-maintained Kubernetes platform for the use of staff
- Manage the Linux infrastructure for the computational teaching services including Hadoop Big Data, GPU computing environment and OpenShift/OKD cluster
- Manage the existing Kubernetes platform, monitoring its performance and availability
- Planning for scaling of the platform including cost/usage modelling and development of policies
- Scheduling of maintenance windows and monitoring the external environment for emerging security threats
- Provide support, configuration and development of the web services of the staff
- Package management and update deployment of Redhat Linux systems using automated processes
- Troubleshooting with end-users and other key IT staff
- Documentation and training end-users and other administrators including formalisation of first line support procedures
Candidates will have:
- Recent experience deploying and administrating an extensive Redhat or Redhat derived linux servers and/or desktops including knowledge of kickstart and rpm repositories
- Good experience of configuring, managing and maintaining web stacks on Linux operating systems (e.g. LAMP, LEMP and LAPP)
- Extensive experience of managing a Kubernetes environment
- Excellent Linux administration skills, including scripting abilities (bash, perl or python)
- Experience of managing a containerised computing platform (e.g. OpenShift, OKD, SUSE CaaS)
