Locum Litigation Lawyer – Hybrid Working – up to £50 per hour Umbrella – East Midlands
Venn Group’s specialist legal team are pleased to be recruiting for a Locum Litigation Lawyer to join an excellent Local Authority in the East Midlands.
This assignment will be for an initial period of 3 months subject to likely possible extension thereafter. The ideal candidate would work part-time and having the ability to attend the office would be preferred.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience working within a Local Authority and will have a broad working understanding of Litigation, Housing, Contracts and Information Governance to deal with a varied caseload.
Duties may include:

Holding a full caseload of housing matters including issues such as Possession, Disrepair, Homelessness, Debt Recovery, Unlawful Evictions, ASB Injunctions

Also handling various Civil and Criminal Litigation matters when required

Dealing with all relevant Licensing matters

Negotiating costs and instructing other Lawyers on housing matters

Attending Committee Hearings and Injunction Hearings on behalf of Clients

Reviewing existing contracts, revising and amending existing contracts to make them fit for the Council’s purpose

Be the primary day-to-day contact with the business to advise on potential complaints and breaches, ensuring that all breaches are notified and investigated in accordance with the legal framework

Respond directly and deal with any ICO complaints made against the business

Development and maintenance of central logs relating to requests for personal data, data breaches, Data Protection Act 2018, Data Protection Impact Assessments and ICO complaints

Responsible for the management and maintenance of records required to demonstrate data protection compliance

Process Data Subject Rights requests under GDPR such as right to erasure, rectification in liaison with the relevant business area and within the legal compliance timeframes

Providing Legal, Procurement, Commercial and Governance advice on a range of projects from start to finish

Advising on a range of Local Government law issues, including governance arrangements for shared services, data protection and freedom of information

Drafting agreements including grant and loan agreements, service level agreements and all other formal documentation including NEC and JCT contracts
An attractive hourly rate of up to £50 per hour Umbrella is offered for this position dependant on experience.
This is a great position for those looking to gain experience of working in the Public Sector as previous experience is desirable but not essential.
