Locum Corporate and Information Governance Lawyer – Full Time – Remote Working – up to £700 per day Umbrella

Venn Group’s specialist Legal team are pleased to be recruiting for an exciting opportunity to join a renowned Local Authority as a Locum Corporate and Information Governance Lawyer. This position offers a flexible working arrangement, ideal for someone seeking full-time or part-time hours while contributing to high-level Corporate and Information Governance work.

The Role:
Position: Locum Corporate and Information Governance Lawyer
Duration: Initial 3 months with the possibility for extension
Rate: £500–£700 per day (Umbrella)
Working Pattern: Full-time preferred, part-time considered for the right candidate
Location: Remote working, with occasional attendance for key meetings

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing expert corporate governance advice to senior officers, Members, Cabinet, and committees
• Supporting the Legal Services Manager and Director in strengthening governance practices across the Authority
• Advising on compliance with UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, FOIA, and EIR
• Maintaining and implementing policies, procedures, and controls that protect corporate information
• Representing the Council at meetings, committees, and, where required, courts or tribunals
• Supporting Council-wide IG projects and initiatives
• Keeping the Legal Services Manager updated on sensitive or high-risk matters
• Contributing to collaborative working and service-level agreements
• Supporting HR processes when required and avoiding conflicts of interest

Ideal Candidate:

• Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive
• Proven experience in Corporate Governance and Information Law
• Strong advisory, drafting, and stakeholder management skills
