Locum Town Clerk – Hybrid Working – Up to £40 per hour Umbrella – Northern Home Counties
Venn Group’s specialist legal team are pleased to be recruiting for a Locum Town Clerk to join a Local Authority in the Northern Home Counties.
This assignment will be for an initial period of 6 months subject to likely possible extension thereafter. The role will be worked on a hybrid working basis (2 days per week in the office). The client is seeking someone on a 30 hours per week basis however other working patterns may be considered.
The ideal candidate would be someone experienced in handling Governance and Democratic Services matters within Local Government and seeking a new challenge.
Duties may include:

To act as the principal adviser to the Council CEO, elected members and officers on all matters of governance, protocol and to ensure the legal and policy compliance of decisions taken by the Council

Acting as the Proper Officer in all cases where such a designation is so required and be responsible for all health and safety matters, ensuring compliance with the duty of care to both employees of the Council and the general public.

Leading the organisation and delivery of all civic functions

To convene, attend and record written minutes (including decisions) of all formal meetings of the Council, its committees, sub-committees, working groups and task & finish groups in line with current legislation and policy.

Preparing all notices and agendas necessary to the business of the Council, ensuring delivery of reports and supporting documentation to statutory and/or agreed deadlines, and to ensure the safe custody of the Council’s deeds, documents and records.
An attractive hourly rate of up to £40 Umbrella is offered for this position dependant on experience.
