Maintenance Operative
Venn Group are working with a Private Health care clinic within a London-based NHS Trust to secure the services of an experienced Maintenance Operative.
Rate: Band 4, £12.50-£14/h
Length: 3 months +
Location: Central London
Job Summary – Under the direction of the Facilities manager to carry out, in a competent manner, maintenance tasks, minor fault finding and repair work on the building fabric and a wide range of engineering plant and services to ensure a safe and pleasant environment for patients, visitors and staff. To respond to emergency calls and assist suitably qualified tradesmen in their mechanical, electrical, and building duties. Ability to work on own initiative and escalate tasks to qualified personnel as required.
The successful candidate will:
- Carry out basic engineering, building, grounds, and other general maintenance and 'new work' tasks e.g.
- Engineering: Use of large variety of hand tools e.g. hacksaw, drills, hammers, and power tools, assembly of wheels and brackets. Generally, equipment that does not require specialist training.
- Building: Preparatory works; generally making good to building fabric prior to decoration. Re-painting/Decoration works to affected areas. Installation of secondary protection to walling; corners protectors, PVC cladding. Replacement of ceiling tiles. Repairs and replacement to floor tiles/re-grouting works. Repair and replacement to wall tiles/re-grouting works. General repairs to brickwork and general concrete repairs.
- Grounds and gardens: apply grit to entrances and topping up grit bins, sign repairs. Maintain plant in a competent manner as required.
- Carry out the replacement of defective, lamps, fluorescent tubes and starter canisters
- Test fire alarm system as per procedure in all areas on site, report faults on system
- Participate in the operation of engineering (e.g. water, gas and electrical) and building planned maintenance schemes designated for Maintenance Operative
The successful candidate will have:
- A Clean/Smart Appearance
- Good communication skills
- A background of working in a corporate environment such as a private clinic, high-end hotel or equivalent
- City and Guilds, NVQ level 3 or equivalent, CSCS card holder (Desirable)
- Experience in carrying out Reactive Maintenance and Planned Preventative Maintenance duties
- Experience in Carrying out basic carpentry, mastic painting, plumbing and electrical systems and strong eye for detail
