Interim Management Accountant
Our client, a well-respected public sector body in South Devon, is looking for a Management Accountant to come on board on a temporary basis for an initial 3 month contract.
Location: South Devon (Fully Remote)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday-Friday)
Length of Contract: 3 Months +
Hourly Rate: £16.25 -£18.48 via Umbrella

Day to Day Duties:
- Provide information and support to budget holders and Directorate management teams, often producing complex calculations and undertaking investigations into variances from budget
- Communicate often-complex financial issues to non-financial managers and persuade managers, negotiate agreement from a range of options, which will result in improvement
- Working alongside a Finance Business Manager as required, assisting with budget setting in designated areas, having an understanding of complex calculations around service line reporting to assist with feeder files and reports from this finance tool
- Reply to emails memoranda from managers, interpret requirements and process transactions accordingly, within specified times
- Ensure the monthly close down and resulting internal and external reports are completed in line with the Finance Directorates timetable
- Investigate queries from budget holders and managers (typically from non-financial background) relating to the charges made to the financial ledger, Payroll transactions, invoices and payments, etc.
- Assist managers with the understanding of Agresso electronic reports as required. Communicate company rules and regulations in an understandable form explaining complex financial issues
- Frequently (e.g. Monthly) attend designated meetings with budget holders e.g. ward managers and provide financial information to keep budget holders informed of their financial position, budgetary consequences of actions, and provide advice, persuading appropriate corrective action where necessary
- Calculate the revenue consequences of new developments and any other proposed changes to determine required funding levels. Interpret and compare costs (e.g. from a business case) over a range of financial options
- Produce spreadsheets, using Microsoft Excel and Word, to include data input and modelling to produce financial consequences for both internal requirements and for outside bodies
Essential Skills:
- Accountancy experience within the public sector
- Advanced MS Office skills (Excel)
- Part Qualified Accountant (AAT)
- NHS Experience
- Experience using Aggresso software
