Job Opportunity – Medical Workforce Planning Lead
Venn Group are currently working on a position with one of our highly regarded healthcare organisations, based in Cambridgeshire, to source a Medical Workforce Planning Lead for the following assignment:
Medical Workforce Lead
Location: Cambridgeshire (one to two days on-site per month, rest working remotely)
Contract: 6 months+
Hours: 37.5 per week
Rate: £258.31 Umbrella per day
Your duties will include:
- Reviewing the current medical workforce, including the number and distribution of consultants across services and across the geography of the organisation
- Undertaking the review with reference to the Medical Workforce Race Equality Standard
- Determining whether there is a need for additional consultant/medical posts over the next 1-5 years based on demographic data, associated demand projections, service utilisation patterns, and clinical priorities
- Considering national medical workforce data (e.g. commissioned training etc) and the impact on recruiting and retaining future medical staff
- Developing a Medical Workforce Plan including a Recruitment and Retention Strategy
- Working with the Medical Director and Head of Department of Psychiatry to optimise the role of clinical academics undertaking sessions within the organisation
- Working with the organisations Medical Workforce Lead to support the completion of all job plans for the consultant body and provide additional HR expertise to the Job Planning Consistency Committee, chaired by the Deputy Medical Director
- Collaborating with key stakeholders, including Medical Directorate leads and Exec colleagues, Directorate triumvirates, Medical Staffing, Directors of Education and R&D, etc to ensure alignment of workforce planning efforts with organisational goals and priorities.
- Reviewing key workforce metrics in relation to medical workforce and establish a monitoring mechanism for the Medical Directorate
- Working with workforce planning leads to input from the medical perspective in the organisations workforce planning process and ensure the Medical Workforce Plan links with the plans for other professions
- Undertaking specific actions related to this project that support the development and delivery of the medical workforce plan
The successful candidate should have:
- Experience within a busy Medical Staffing / HR function
- Experience of design, management and monitoring of medical rotas
- Knowledge of equality and diversity issues and associated legislation
- Ability to interpret complex information and employment legislation and communicate the detail in a clear, concise, and accurate manner
- Ability to use initiative to solve day-to-day operational problems relating to medical staffing
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work independently and flexibly to effectively prioritise own and team’s workload
