An exciting position has arisen for a Payroll Officer to join a London based University. The post holder will assist in the support the Payroll & Pensions Manager in the efficient operation of the payroll & pension service for the University and be responsible for processing allocated payrolls with regard to accurate and timely payment of salaries and bursaries.
Job responsibilities include:
- Oversee colleague’s payrolls for accuracy prior to payroll run, prepare BACS file for allocated payrolls prior to transmission and organise costing file for allocated payrolls
- Hold responsibility for processing allocated payrolls with regard to accurate and timely payment of salaries and bursaries
- Maintain compliance with contracts of employment, HR information, bursary regulations, PAYE, NI and other statutory regulations
- Preparation of the RTI file for onward submission to HMRC and assist with preparation of annual returns for University Pension schemes
- Assist in the preparation of year end and other statutory / non-statutory returns
- Support with testing legislative patches, system upgrades and new payroll systems
- Assist in checking, testing pension rate changes and upgrades
Successful candidate profile:
- Working as part of a Payroll team within a large organisation
- Up to date knowledge of payroll legislation – PAYE, NI, Superannuation, SSP, SMP etc
- Have experience of dealing with Teachers or Academic Pensions
- Experience of Oracle HR system
- Good oral and written communication skills
