Interim Payroll Technician required immediately
A position has arisen for a Payroll Technician within an NHS organisation in Bristol. This would be for an initial 3 month contract initially, which could lead to a permanent placement. The role is supporting both monthly and weekly payroll runs and responding to queries over the phone, email and in person.
Rate: £11.18 PAYE (inclusive of holiday pay)
Duration: 3 months (Temp to Perm)
Location: Bristol (1 day WFH) (Mon – Fri)

Your duties will include:
- Set up computer records for new employees ensuring that all contractual and statutory information is complete and correct
- Pursue and resolve promptly all accuracy and authorisation errors and omissions in submitted data (using all relevant internal and external sources) to ensure staff are paid accurately and on time
- Deal with any leaver overpayments by writing and verbally speaking to the individuals seeking agreement with the individual on the repayment, issuing invoices in order to seek repayment
- Detailed explanations will have to be given to help aid the individuals understanding of how this overpayment has arisen
- Calculate manual payments or advances if required when computer systems are not available
- Provide payment and information to employees in respect of maternity pay; ensuring employee statutory declarations are explained and returned on time
- Work as part of the whole payroll team, acting on rotas, to maintain an efficient service to our employees and customers
- Working with the Payroll Manager to implement regulatory guidelines policies and procedures
- Building relationships with managers within the business including visiting sites and assisting with development and training managers with regards to new payroll processes
- Deal with queries from staff and their managers regarding their pay
Essential:
- Good payroll experience (ideally gained in a large, complex organisation)
- Previous experience working in the NHS and using the ESR payroll system
