Permanent Principal Accountants X2
We been instructed by one of our East Midlands District Council’s that they are recruiting X2 permanent Principal Accountant roles.
Principal Accountant – Capital and Treasury
Salary: Up to £47,000 (Dependant on experience)
Key responsibilities:
• This role will concentrate on the Capital Strategy and the Treasury Management Strategy
• Plan processes to facilitate capital project requests and appraisal for consideration by senior management
• Prepare, report and present monthly capital finance forecasting and monitoring reports including written commentary within agreed timescales
• Complete Government Returns relating to Capital and Treasury Management
Key experience:
• Development and implementation of capital strategy and experience of capital financial planning and budgeting, production of statement of accounts, monitoring and review
• Treasury and cash flow strategy & management
• Previous experience of managing a team
• Local Authority experience
Principal Accountant – General Fund
Salary: Up to £47,000 (Dependant on experience)
Key responsibilities:
• Overall responsibility for the delivery of key financial activities within the Financial Management section as allocated by the Financial Services Manager
• Prepare the final accounts for those directorates allocated to the post holder and participate in the preparation of the authority’s final accounts as required by the Financial Services Manager
• Prepare the budgets of those directorates allocated to the post holder and participate in the preparation of the authority’s overall budget
• Undertake robust revenue financial modelling and option appraisals on behalf of services, liaising with the Capital Accountant where such options have capital implications
Key experience:
• Experience of the management of financial planning and budgeting, production of statement of accounts, monitoring and review, including financial modelling and option appraisal of projects
• Minimum of a full AAT qualification
• Local Government experience
• Previous experience of managing a team
Please note: This role is Hybrid working with 2 days per week on site. Initially this will be all week for a period of up to 3 weeks whilst learning the role.
