Permanent Senior Property and Contracts Lawyer - £46,000-£50,000 – South East England – Flexible Working
Venn Group’s specialist legal team are recruiting for a Permanent Senior Property and Contracts Lawyer to join an established Local Authority based in the South East England region. The position is offered on a permanent full-time contract.This organisation prides itself on offering flexible working arrangements to ensure employees have a balanced work/life ratio.
The appointed candidate will have experience conducting complex high value Commercial Property and Contracts work with limited supervision.
This opportunity is suitable for a qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or Barrister with prior Local Authority experience.
Daily duties may include:

Supervising contracts and property lawyer grade 6 on all property and contract casework

Contributing to the development of new systems and initiatives in legal services

Covering the duties of the Contracts and Property team leader, if required i.e. when the team leader is unavailable through sickness, annual leave or has conflicting appointments

Drafting and approving contracts arising from all the councils’ functions, including construction, service, consultancy and IT contracts

Advising on contracts and procurement legislation, procedures and documents, including procurement regulations and the councils’ contracts procedure rules

Working in partnership with external solicitors on major procurements and town centre redevelopment and other regeneration projects

Handling complex acquisitions and disposals of land and property

Handling all associated non-contentious work arising out of the councils’ property portfolios including leases, licences, deeds, notices, registration of land and compulsory purchase orders

Drafting and approving other agreements including grant and loan agreements and service level agreements

Dealing with affordable housing development work, including funding and nominations agreements
-
Drafting section 106 agreements/obligations and agreements under related legislation
-
Handling other non-contentious work including byelaws, footpaths and highway matters
-
Advising on a range of local government law issues, including governance arrangements for shared services, data protection and freedom of information

Drafting policies and procedures and deliver training to officers and councillors

Holding formal council meetings and councillor/officer groups as necessary, including drafting and advising on reports
A salary of £46,000-£50,000 is offered for this role.
