Principal Corporate Lawyer / Deputy Monitoring Officer– Initially 6 months – Full time – Local Authority
Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently working with a busy Local Authority, who are known for their excellent quality of work, who are recruiting for a Locum Principal Corporate Lawyer/Deputy Monitoring Officer to join their department.
Applicants will be considered either on a full time or part time basis (minimum 20 hours per week), with the initial period 6 months and then a possibility to extend.
The rate is competitive, depending on experience. Remote working is available for this role, after the initial collection of the IT equipment on the first day.
This is a brilliant opportunity for a qualified senior lawyer as the role will encompass all corporate governance, constitutional matters, member complaints, embedding new practices and other ad hoc duties as required.
You must have a current practising certificate and have previously done a similar role in local government. It would be ideal if you had knowledge of planning, property and regeneration work, but not at all essential.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic senior lawyer who can provide strategic leadership of the Councils internal legal teams of planning, contract and property lawyers.
Responsibilities include overseeing major schemes ensuring effective and timely legal support and engagement. The post holder will also act as Deputy Monitoring Officer.
Prior local government experience is ideally required.
