Location: Hybrid – split between Manchester City Centre and Remote working (2/3 days per week remote)

Hours: Full time – 37 per week

Salary: £46,000 - £51,000 per annum

Venn Group are currently working with an authority in Manchester who are seeking a Principle Finance Manager on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be overseeing all aspects of VAT and managing an exchequer team of 5.

Main duties of the job:

• Managing all aspects of VAT and other non-payroll related taxation and tax planning with the objective of minimising the authority’s tax liability and the financial risks associated with potential liabilities
• Providing strategic support as part of the Corporate and Technical Finance team working to the Principal Accountant
• Overseeing the Exchequer Service on behalf of the authority, managing and developing a team of staff, ensuring a high level of performance and quality of service at all times
• Supporting the Head of Finance and Principal Accountant by identifying, advising on, and managing the taxation (VAT) aspects of high-level initiatives and projects undertaken by the organisation and its partners
• Responsible for all taxation calculations, ensuring government returns are submitted on time
• Leading the Exchequer Services team, with managerial responsibility for the Exchequer Manager
• Planning, monitoring and managing the work of the team, providing clear work plans and development plans, and ensuring the appropriate training and support is provided
