Project Manager
Location: remote working
Length of contract: 3 months (with possibility of extension)
IR35 Status: Inside IR35
A Central Government organisation is seeking a Project Manager for an immediate start to lead on a project focussed on reviewing processes and any issues of a new IT system recently put in place in relation to Brexit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Competently maintain the current schedule of work but also deal with issues with a varying degree of urgency
- Lead on stakeholder engagement so must be flexible and adept at dealing with stakeholders
- Look at the bigger picture and the long term journey as the system transitions over
- Shaping the project direction and ensuring there is a clearly articulated vision with defined outcomes and objectives
- Managing and coordinating the project work-streams at operational level
- Supporting the Programme Manager to ensure milestones and deliverables are set out within a project plan and ensuring successful delivery of it
- Ensure all necessary Business Change activities are defined, agreed and implemented in accordance with the project plan, utilising business change expertise and resources from within the programme
- Support the relationship with internal and external project stakeholders, identifying and managing collaborative relationships through support of the Business Change work stream
- Actively engage senior level support when required, building, maintaining and improving relationships across the project, stakeholders and wider government
Key Requirements:
- Be familiar with working in a business change environment, able to understand how phases of a project lead to effective change and their strategic organisational drivers
- Experience of prioritisation of urgent requests and delivery or involvement in the delivery of projects within agreed time, cost and quality constraints
- You will have a sound understanding of project management tools and methodologies, and experience of applying them in practice
- Familiarity with methods to map out and engage with stakeholders, as well as confident and experienced in developing relationships with those internal and external to the organisation
- Practical experience of managing project risks and issues, including design of appropriate strategies to manage these, discuss them with stakeholders and also be considerate of them in the context of wider organisational strategies
- Have led a team to deliver project outcomes, with the ability to identify and nurture talent in order to build capacity and have an interest in getting the best out of people
- You will be used to working in an environment of ambiguity and change, and will be proactive in keeping updated on developments within the business
