Interim Public Health Principal
Location: London (hybrid)
Length: 3 months initially

We are currently supporting one of our local authority clients to recruit a dynamic and skilled interim Public Health Principal, who will lead on the delivery of the public health workplan for babies, children, and young people (BCYP). This is a varied and fast-paced agenda so will require someone who has previously worked within a public health team covering babies, children and young people to be able to hit the ground running.
Key responsibilities of the Public Health Principal will include:
- Developing an action plan for the Council’s BCYP strategy and monitoring the impact of implementation
- Leading on the development and implementation of an infant feeding strategy, working across the system to increase breast feeding rates, including pre-birth and introduction to solids
- Leading on healthy start, oral health and healthy weight for babies, children and young people, including providing Public Health input to local clinical pathway redesign
- Developing and managing relationships with primary care to improve partnership working and co-ordination on the health of babies, children and young people
Experience and skills required for the Public Health Principal:
- Must have previously worked at Public Health Principal level or similar covering children and young people
- Excellent communicator and relationship builder with partners and providers
- Infant feeding experience would be desirable but not essential
- A Masters or degree in Public Health would be beneficial but is not essential
